Planning for a vacation? Aside from the basic like your flight and accommodation; you need to decide what type of travel money you are going to use. You would not enjoy your vacation if you do not have money to spend. You can decide to bring along with you your debit card, travellers’ checks, credit cards or cash. You need to consider the following in choosing which travel money to use:
- Convenience, if you bring cash there is no need to look for banks or ATM
- Safety and security, debit cards offer this just make sure that your card is part of major bank networks such as Plus and Cirrus.
- Acceptability, not all credit cards and debit cards are accepted worldwide. Make sure that you have Mastercard or Visa cards which can be used in most parts of the world.
- Consumer protection, cash can easily be stolen. Cards and checks offer more consumer protection because there are governing rules and regulations about it similar to ach rules and those from FTC.
It is better to research well on which is the mostly used and accepted in the place you are going to travel.
